Q Lazzarus “Goodbye Horses” 12″ Vinyl Reissue b/w cover by Hayden Thorpe (Wild Beasts) & Jon Hopkins

We are elated to announce the 12″ / digital reissue of the long out of print synth pop classic “Goodbye Horses” by Q Lazzarus, out July 2, 2013 (North America) / July 1 (rest of the world) digitally, and July 16th physically (mail order will ship early!).

Q Lazzarus

Written by William Garvey, and sung by Q Lazzarus, this track was made (in)famous by the unforgettable scene in Silence of The Lambs where Buffalo Bill wears a skin suit while dancing in the mirror.  It was made readily available to fans only via the Married To the Mob soundtrack (or to the lucky few who could find the limited copies on 12″). Now for the first time in years, it will be readily available again on 12″ vinyl b/w a haunting collaborative cover by Domino Records artists Hayden Thorpe of Wild Beasts and Jon Hopkins

According to Garvey, “the song is about transcendence over those who see the world as only earthly and finite. The horses represent the five senses from Hindu philosophy (The Bhagavad Gita) and the ability to lift one’s perception above these physical limitations and to see beyond this limited Earthly perspective,” Fitting with the original meaning, Hayden and Jon capture the transcendence of the original track in all its melancholy and profound glory.

The 12″ will come with never before seen archival artifacts from Q Lazzarus. Wild Beasts are currently in the making of their fourth album due for completion this summer. Jon Hopkins‘ fourth solo album Immunity is set for release via Domino on June 4th (North America), June 3rd (rest of the world). More details and pre-order to come soon.
