NYC Darkwave Debut

BreastMilk is the creative rebirth of musician and writer Dave Tudi.

Cutting his teeth in the NYC underground with goth/garage outfit, Triple Hex, Dave Tudi most recently co-wrote a track on the new La La Brooks (The Crystals) record. Tudi returns with a completely different endeavor, shedding his guitars for vintage drum machines and synth keyboards.

Through constant artistic evolution and pollination, Dave Tudi has developed a new sound melding his trademark dark dance croon with danceteria-esque electronic. BreastMilk release a debut single, “No Destination” b/w “Nite Life” on cassette/digi on November 12, 2013 on Mon Amie Records. The A-side features classic 80s Roland drum sounds with Moog melodies to create a nostalgic dance track, while B-side, “Nite Life” is a slow drive 70s era beat box a la Suicide. Together they create the perfect soundtrack for getting lost on a dark lonely highway.

Q Lazzarus “Goodbye Horses” 12″ Vinyl Reissue b/w cover by Hayden Thorpe (Wild Beasts) & Jon Hopkins

We are elated to announce the 12″ / digital reissue of the long out of print synth pop classic “Goodbye Horses” by Q Lazzarus, out July 2, 2013 (North America) / July 1 (rest of the world) digitally, and July 16th physically (mail order will ship early!).

Q Lazzarus

Written by William Garvey, and sung by Q Lazzarus, this track was first released via the Married To the Mob soundtrack, and notably featured in Silence of The Lambs.  The single has been long out of print, but now for the first time in years, it will be readily available again on 12″ vinyl b/w a haunting collaborative cover by Domino Records artists Hayden Thorpe of Wild Beasts and Jon Hopkins.

According to Garvey, “the song is about transcendence over those who see the world as only earthly and finite. The horses represent the five senses from Hindu philosophy (The Bhagavad Gita) and the ability to lift one’s perception above these physical limitations and to see beyond this limited Earthly perspective,” Fitting with the original meaning, Hayden and Jon capture the transcendence of the original track in all its melancholy and profound glory.

The 12″ will come with never before seen archival artifacts from Q Lazzarus. Wild Beasts are currently in the making of their fourth album due for completion this summer. Jon Hopkins‘ new critically acclaimed album Immunity is out now. Click here to pre-order your copy of “Goodbye Horses.”
